Vocational English as Second Language (VESOL) for Healthcare Workers

English for Speakers of Other Languages provides instruction for limited English proficient adults. You will learn workforce, life, and academic skills. Skills are integrated into reading, writing, speaking, and listening formats. Vocational English for Speakers of Other Languages prepares ESOL you the students to enter vocational/technical programs, including those available at GCI. If you wish to take this course you must be referred by the ESOL guidance counselor.

Classroom instructions are held daily with VESOL Lab. Additionally there will be a conversation group two times per week. A short review of the week’s materials outcome will consist of:

1)  a spelling test (consisting of 10 spelling words), and

2)  a vocabulary/grammar test (10 vocabulary and 5 grammar questions)

 

Additionally, you will be introduced to terminology and vocabulary associated with the respiratory, musculoskeletal, endocrine, digestive and cardiovascular systems. Specific unit highlights include roots of words of anatomy and physiology, common pathologies and pronunciation practice.
