Medical Coding and Billing

Billing clerks review hospital records, or charge slips to calculate the total amount due from a customer. A hospital’s billing clerk may need to contact an insurance company to determine what items will be reimbursed. You will learn to compile, process, and maintain medical records of hospital and clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system. Process, maintain, compile, and report patient information for health requirements and standards. Keyboarding skills, use of the computer, and customer service skills are included in the program.

With Medical Billing and Coding training, you'll focus specifically on the financial and insurance related aspects of the medical office while learning the medical codes necessary to translate a doctor's diagnosis.
